"Work In Progress" of a little project 24cm x 30cm. This is part of a challenge where we combine 2 creatures to make one, so I'm doing this in true Chrissy style where I add a lady in the mix. This prompt is Iguana Black Widow ( or if you're Australian it would be a Red Back spider) 🕷🕷. The art supplies I use here are PanPastels on Pastelmat. The more I do these paintings the more weird they're getting. PanPastels and Pastel Pencils on Pastelmat. Really enjoying this whole process.This painting is inspired by FineArtAnne, such a talented artist. Anne has invented a 31 Day Creating Creature challenge during the month of March 2019, and this is Day 24 Sea Turtle – Sea Anemone, and of course I did this in my style. Well, finally done.In this painting I used PanPastels and Pastel Pencils for details on Pastelmat by Clairfontaine (the best surface ever). I also used makeup and synthetic brushes which I have developed on Pastelmat. This brush technique is how I work these days and has taken my work to a whole new level. Just a note without the Pastel Pencils I couldn't achieve the details I was able to get in this painting.![]()

I also used masking film to prevent halos around my subjects and mixed wonderful pinks and purples with PanPastels.![]()

1. Draw one mash-up creature per day. If you are not able to draw one per day then choose one every other day, maybe once a week or pick your favorites and draw them. The idea of the challenge is to have fun and create something different and original. Don’t stress about completing something every day. You can just pick your favorites and complete those. 2. Use any medium you wish. Anything is acceptable as long as you are having fun and creating something new and different. This is a great time to try something new or work within your comfort zone…just mash something together and share your creations.![]()
