FAQ

This page will be continuously updated as we receive more Frequently Asked Questions. If you have a question about March Mash-up that is not answered below, please use our contact page, and put “For FAQ” in your subject line. Thanks!

Q: What is March Mash-up?

A: March Mash-up is a month long art challenge created by artist Anne Koivumäki that is meant to inspire creativity and to think outside the box while creating interesting and unique pieces of art. Every day for the month of March anyone participating in the March Mash-up challenge creates drawings using the daily prompts and posts them online. Remember to use the hashtags #MarchMashup , #MarchMashup2019 and #DrawCreature  when posting to instagram and/or facebook if you want your art to be seen by everyone.

Q. When is March Mash-up?

A: March Mash-up is every March. You can post your first March Mash-up drawing on March 1st and your last on March 31st.

Q: Where is March Mash-up?

A: Worldwide.  Wherever you live and create is where March Mash-up is.  There is no official location or convention for this challenge.

Q. What mediums can I use?

A: You can use any medium you are comfortable working in or challenge yourself and try something new.  From traditional to digital and anything in between.  Think outside the box if you like and use something completely unexpected.  Anything is acceptable.

Q: Do I have to use the official prompt list?

A: No. The prompts are there for a guideline to Challenge Your Artistic Imagination.  While we encourage you to try the prompts on the list, you can certainly try your hand at your own mash-up.  The point is to be creative, think outside the box and create a new creature by mixing two or more things together.

Q: Do I have to use the prompts in order?

A: Not at all. Though one of the best things about following the prompt list, in order, is to see everyone’s creations for that day, but if you feel that switching them up works out better for you then by all means…go for it!

Q: Where are this year’s prompts?

A: March Mash-up prompts are posted February 1st of each year under the Prompts page as well as our official Instagram and Facebook Pages.

Q: I have an idea for a Mash-up, can I submit it?

A: Yes. You are welcome to submit any mash-up ideas you have via the contact page.  Please put “Mash-Up Idea” in the subject line.  There is no guarantee that it will be used, but we are always open for ideas and new combinations we haven’t thought of yet.
